Event Details
Storytelling Through Movement workshop explores the power of words, images and movement to express a person's story. This one day workshop invites individuals to explore their feelings of self-worth, courage and pride through the stages of life, as expressed through self produced images, words, and or movement.
The workshops are designed for mature adults of all physical abilities including people needing an assistive device for mobility (cane, walker, wheelchair). In a single 90 minute session, we explore a gentle movement to warm up our bodies, participate in a lead discussion around your personal story and group creation of gestures and other expressions of your story, bringing to life these personal narratives.
Detroit Dance Collective, Detroit’s longest operating professional contemporary dance company, dedicated to creating and producing ART THAT MATTERS, facilitates this unique project. Our team includes Barbara Selinger, DDC’s Artistic Director, and DDC dance artists. Together, we work with Workshop participants in sharing the power of their stories.
