Event Details
Join Lakeesha Morrison as she talks about her incredible ancestors, Henry and Elizabeth Hamer, one of the first black families to settle in Royal Oak in 1860.
Visitors will embark on a captivating exploration of my ancestors' path to Royal Oak, a journey marked by perseverance, liberation, and resilience in the face of systemic challenges. It's an inspiring narrative that sheds light on the pursuit of freedom and success against societal constraints.
As for me, I'm Lakeesha Morrison—a Royal Oak native, devoted wife, and mother of three. Rooted in activism, I'm passionate about amplifying the stories of my family's heritage and the remarkable achievements of Black communities, fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation of our shared history.
